Spiritual ReNEW YOU, FB 3- yellow. all-free-backgrounds

My life’s experiences with emotional turmoil have led me to study, love and be INlightened by scripture references that have to do with the heart When we regard our heart symbolically as the center of our emotions, feelings and devotions, we can see teachings about the heart all throughout the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

Although written over two thousand years ago, I think you’ll see that these words have application, even today.  Here are the words of Helaman as he laments because he has seen the goodness of God in his life, and he knows and remembers the goodness of God in the life of his ancestors-through their written records and stories–yet his people have faced much war and pestilence because they continue to turn away from God after they prosper.

Helaman records:

And thus we can behold how false, and also the unsteadiness of the hearts of the children of men; yea, we can see that the Lord in his great infinite goodness doth bless and prosper those who put their trust in him.

Yea, and we may see at the very time when he doth prosper his people, yea, in the increase of their fields, their flocks and their herds, and in gold, and in silver, and in all manner of precious things of every kind and art; sparing their lives, and delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; softening the hearts of their enemies that they should not declare wars against them; yea, and in fine, doing all things for the welfare and happiness of his people; yea, then is the time that they do harden their hearts, and do forget the Lord their God, and do trample under their feet the Holy One—yea, and this because of their ease, and their exceedingly great prosperity.

And thus we see that except the Lord doth chasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him.

O how foolish, and how vain, and how evil, and devilish, and how quick to do iniquity, and how slow to do good, are the children of men; yea, how quick to hearken unto the words of the evil one, and to set their hearts upon the vain things of the world!

Yea, how quick to be lifted up in pride; yea, how quick to boast, and do all manner of that which is iniquity; and how slow are they to remember the Lord their God, and to give ear unto his counsels, yea, how slow to walk in wisdom’s paths!

Behold, they do not desire that the Lord their God, who hath created them, should rule and reign over them; notwithstanding his great goodness and his mercy towards them, they do set at naught his counsels, and they will not that he should be their guide.

Why is it important that we remember God?  Among many other reasons, one reason that motivates me is that someday, we can all return to live in His presence.

On earth, we find ourselves forever longing for peace and happiness.  We may involve ourselves in temporary pleasures only to return to feelings of emptiness.  Our thoughts may wander into paths of self-doubt or hopelessness.  We may not realize that feeding our spirit and getting our “homing beacon” for heaven working again is part of the solution to our longing.

Building on the secure foundation of centering our hope in Jesus Christ and following, as best we can, His teachings will position us to return, after death, to our heavenly home.  Yet, to live in the very presence of God again, where we can find the feelings of true, unpolluted, joy, love and happiness, we must claim the gift of repentance that Christ offered.   It is only by that means that we can allow our heart’s to be purified and worthy to be in God’s presence.  It is a TURNing of the heart toward God and an acceptance of Christ’s grace and mercy toward us that allows this to take place.  We can receive joy instead of misery. It is a beautiful experience that allows us to feel astounding peace, and it’s not something to criticize.

So today, let us reflect upon any unsteadiness found within our own hearts.  Let us be true to our our real selves and to God by TURNing our heart to Him.  By doing so, we turn our heart toward our heavenly home, and toward the great hope we have in Jesus Christ, who made possible the WAY for us to repent and eventually find everlasting joy.

Spiritual Vitality: Remember His Amazing Grace

  Vector abstract background with star

Spiritual Vitality Tip:  Sustain your HOPE.
Remember Christ’s Amazing GRACE.

God can help you!

I was reading this morning the words of Alma.

“The Lord God hath power to do all things which are according to His word.”

He counseled people who lived long ago to:

“…be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.

And see that ye have faith, hope and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.”

Let us put ourselves right with God.
Let us keep ourselves there.

Enjoy this beautiful music!

Under the onslaught of troubles

My sweet friend has recently experienced the death of her mother.  She is a woman of faith (not losing faith), yet I know times are really tough for her right now.  Many of us have undergone other trials– finances, health, frustration, discouragement and more that is spoken of in this video.  My heart is deeply touched by this topic. I hope it will help you or someone you love.

Below are comments from Henry B. Eyring.  I hope you will take 5 minutes to watch Mountains to Climb.

“Now I wish to encourage those who are in the midst of hard trials, who feel their faith may be fading under the onslaught of troubles. …

Finding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will help us have the power to endure and overcome even the hardest trials in life.

If the foundation of faith is not embedded in our hearts the power to endure will crumble.

Acting on even a twig of faith allows God to grow it.

That particle of faith, most precious, that you should protect and use to whatever extent you can, is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord has promised, “I will not forsake thee.”

That Families May Be Blessed

Post Header, 600 x ___ 2, Family, basic unit of eternity
Henry B. Eyring is an amazing man.  He has been an example to me of humble faith and devotion to God and family.  He spoke at the Vatican Summit where faith leaders discussed marriage.  The points he listed at the end of what he said are possible to achieve  if two people are committed to walking together in love.  With faith in God and a commitment to one’s spouse, generations of children can be benefitted and blessed.

I am also a witness of how a single parent can press forward in faith and still influence children for good.  We still need to know how to be faithful IN family settings and, by listening to his words, we can help our children gain insight and understanding, too.  If you are one that has carried heartache and heartbreak–even from childhood–his words may help you make sense, clearly, of what was missing or what went wrong.

Let’s change the  trend of destructive thoughts, words and actions that we carry into marriage and relationships.  Henry B. Eyring suggests how it is possible.  I encourage you to listen to his words.

Resurrected and Reunited

Today, as I watched the video below, I was touched by the look in Thomas’ face (near the end) while seeing the wounds in Christ’s hands from the nails driven through them—healed, but remaining as a witness that it was, indeed, Jesus Christ.

I thought that he must be thinking, “But I saw you suffer!” Suffering, then death, then resurrection—so that all the children of mankind may be resurrected and reunited with our Heavenly Father. How glorious. How amazing. How loving. How kind. Glory be to God for His sacrifice and loving kindness unto us all.

Thomas must have been astounded. Seeing Christ die then live again! It was unheard of, beyond comprehension, until the EXPERIENCE changed Thomas life through his experiential understanding.

I’ve learned that spiritual experiences are not only things you see, but witnesses to our hearts through feelings. I’ve learned through countless experiences, especially experiences with suffering, that Christ still lives and loves us all. I know that the God to which he ascended IS our Heavenly Father, and that Heavenly Father DOES hear and answer our prayers. Not only did Jesus provide the resurrection, that someday our own body can reunite with our own spirit, but I humbly and deeply appreciate the price Christ paid to make a way that we might repent of our sins (change our hearts and ways) in order to be reunited someday with Heavenly Father. It’s a great feeling to know we can qualify for blessings instead of punishments (no matter what we’ve done), through the great gift of the Atonement that Christ provides IF we will repent, humbly and sincerely, and ask for his mercy to cleanse us from our sins, so that we will no longer be spiritually separated from God, we will find peace, and comfort and HOPE.

My hope is in Christ. “He paid a price he didn’t owe because we owed a debt we could not pay.” It is in He whom I put my trust.

From the words of Thomas S. Monson: No words in Christendom mean more to me than those spoken by the angel to the weeping Mary Magdalene and the other Mary when, on the first day of the week, they approached the tomb to care for the body of their Lord. Spoke the angel: “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.” Our Savior lived again. The most glorious, comforting, and reassuring of all events of human history had taken place—the victory over death. The pain and agony of Gethsemane and Calvary had been wiped away. The salvation of mankind had been secured. The Fall of Adam had been reclaimed.

May this video bring you peace, understanding and reassurance. Happy Easter!

I Feel My Savior’s Love

I have been consoling a loved one who is going through agonizing pain. I remember the days, years ago, when my own heart was breaking. I would sit in my green rocker, and while holding my baby and rocking and rocking I would sing this song of hope, commitment and peace (click video) . I struggled to keep my perspective. It was comforting, and wisdom eventually emerged from the pain of long ago. I am grateful for the life, teachings and mission of Jesus Christ–who can set all things right, for the innocent and even for the offenders, if they call upon his name in prayer with  humility in their heart and align themselves with His teachings. Hope you enjoy the video.

You’re Not Alone

My heart goes out to those who are entrapped in the vicious cycles of addiction, suffering and pain.  Christ is the Master Healer.  It’s interesting to me that we try everything to get rid of the physical and emotional feelings that distrub us, yet often forget that it’s our Elder Brother, Jesus Christ (son of God the Father-our creator), who makes the way for us to be healed spiritually so that joy and happiness can once again be ours.  It’s my hope that this video reaches those who are forlorn, unhappy and seeking the way back to being whole and healed.

Thank you to Betsy Love who pointed out this video on Facebook.

God of Love

I’m rejoicing at this season of rebirth.  Everything becomes new.  It is a season of remembrance and celebration.  Our hope is in Christ, who strengthens us.  He overcame all things, including death, that we might live again with our Heavenly Father after we die because of Christ’s resurrection.  (He paved the way for the rest of us.)

To live in God’s presence and be comfortable there, we must also humble our hearts and be cleansed from the effects of the choices we have made that are out of alignment with God’s will and laws (sin). In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ took upon himself the sins of the world so WE might not suffer if we sincerely repent, ask forgiveness, make restitution, and change our ways.  Because of Christ, we can be forgiven and cleansed from sin and the guilt, sorrow and disappointment that accompanies it. Each and every person can then become spiritually alive again through the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ-who made repentance and forgiveness possible.

Just think of it.  Each day is a new beginning.  Our worth is great in the sight of God.  He (Heavenly Father) loved us so much that He sent his Son.  Jesus Christ (His Son) loved us so much that He gave his life to make all this possible for US.  We are blessed.  We are loved.  We are important.

I posted this wonderful video in remembrance of Jesus Christ.  I am grateful for His teachings of joy and hope and healing–and also for His sufferings which were endured for a higher purpose.

Look to the Light

Light and darkness cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

“It was dark because I didn’t know who I was or where I was going.” Shelley, Model, New York, USA

“It just felt like a dark hole that would never end.” Sal, Contractor, New Jersey, USA

“I was doing things that, you know, made me feel disgusted with myself. On one occasion, I felt so bad that I was impelled to call upon God although I had not prayed in many years.” Victor, Businessman, Jamaica

“. . . it felt like pure love, and at that moment, I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that Jesus Christ lived, and that He was the epitome of love – which I’d been looking for and could never find it. I’d done everything in the world that man had to offer, and none of it was real.” Bill, Businessman, Alabama, USA

“I feel like Christ gave me another chance.” Shelley

“He has brought me from a place I never thought I would be able to crawl out of. In the long run, I’ve noticed that, wherever He has taken me, it’s always been for a better result.” Sal

“There is an eternal plan here. This isn’t everything. I felt that I truly found Christ when I truly repented.” Shelley

“I know that Christ lives, that He is the Savior of mankind. So I believe that the greatest gift I could give to Him is to seek to strive to follow Him.” Sal

“The birth of the Savior means to me that the world has a chance to change. The world has a chance to become what He intended it to become from the beginning. The world has a chance to accept His love and follow Him.”
